The role of Regional Council is to gain insight on local issues and to represent the interests of the profession in the region, specific to Branches and members. It has responsibility for the implementation of the strategic plan for the Region and also acts as a sounding board on issues of strategic significance to the architecture profession.
Membership of Regional Council, comprises representatives of the four East Midlands branches, including the NSA, plus special interest groups, the regionally elected members of RIBA Council and co-opted members representing certain specialist areas, e.g. students and climate change. Regional Council is chaired by the Regional Chair - currently Barbara Griffin-Wright RIBA, who also represents the region on the RIBA’s Nations and Regions Committee, and, along with the regionally elected member has a line of communication to RIBA Council.
